We give quality products to sustain in competitive market

Could you brief about the company?
KUSAM-MECO was established four decades ago by entrepreneurs who had vast experience in the field of electrical test and measuring instruments. At that time mostly analog instruments were used for measuring electrical parameters. KUSAM-MECO pioneered the use of digital measuring instruments such as multimetres, clamp metres, LCR metres etc.

Initially, the users in industry were apprehensive about the quality, reliability, and after sales service of the products. But by perseverance and hard work coupled by the excellent and reliable quality of the instruments, we broke the mindset of the users who slowly but steadily began to accept the digital instruments. Once the resistance was overcome, there was no looking back. More and more products were added to our range and now we have over 500 products, used by each and every manufacturing company such as steel plants, cement plants, petrochemical industries, chemical industries, electronic manufacturing industries, aerospace, defense, atomic power, railways etc. and after a slight set-back due to Covid-19, the sales are grouping year on year.

What is the USPs of your company? How do you contribute to the growth of the Indian manufacturing sector?
KUSAM-MECO does detailed research of the customers’ requirement and introduced the products which meet the customers’ needs. In turn we earn customers loyalty for our products. Our products are used by the manufacturing sector due to which the quality of the products manufactured by the sector is maintained to the highest level.

What is the contribution of exports to your business?
Our focus for sales of our products is the local markets. Occasionally, we export our products to the Middle East markets.

Could you please share with us information about your new innovations, products or solutions that you have launched in 2022?
At KUSAM-MECO we constantly keep introducing new products as per users’ requirements. New products to be introduced shortly are AC/DC power clamp meter with harmonics display, new gas detectors. We will be revealing more details on the product at Elecrama 2023.

How important is branding for your products or solutions? What are your branding or marketing plans for 2023?
There are many players in the field of electronic test and measuring instruments who are fly-by-night operator. By giving consistent quality instruments backed by good after sales services, our brand is a preferred brand by users. Besides we advertise our products in various magazines and do digital marketing on various social media. Also, we will be participating in exhibitions to reach the customers.

According to you, what is the mantra for success in the marketplace?
High safety instruments, consistent quality, reliability of the readings repeatability and good after sales service is the mantra for success in the market place. Also, a good distribution network for availability of the instruments is important.

What are emerging trends in your industry?
New Instruments being introduced have more and more features added to the traditional function thereby making them more useful with emerging technology in electronic, telecommunication and robotic. New instruments incorporate suitable functions to meet the requirements of those segments.

Sustainability is gaining traction in the industry. How is your company gearing up for sustainability?
To sustain in this competitive market, we have to give new quality products to the industry and other end users to solve their day to day problems. We are able to meet the customer requirement since 40 years.

SMEs are the backbone of India's manufacturing sector. How can we help SMEs to increase their productivity and efficiency? What are your suggestions to the state and union government to make SMEs stronger?
Most SMEs are owned and run by entrepreneurs. They can only prosper and grow if they will put their efforts to the production and manufacturing, and increase the output in their units. We suggest to the government to reduce the compliance by making the laws simple. It will lead to less litigations. Try simplifying the laws and reduce the compliance. This will help SMEs to devote more time for production, and research and development, thereby improving quality and productivity; thus enabling them to compete in the global market.

The government is aiming to make India a $5 trillion economy. What is your vision for the Indian manufacturing sector for 2025?
The union government has a very broad vision to make India ‘Atmanirbhar’ i.e. self-dependent, so that we do not have to be depend upon other countries for our raw materials, component parts and even finished goods. By next three years we should be able to manufacture almost 40 per cent of the goods which are being imported. This will generate new opportunities for Indian manufacturers both SMEs and start-ups. As I have said earlier, government should simplify laws, and reduce compliance, so that industries can concentrate more on production, quality etc.

What are your long term vision and goals for your company?
Our long-term goals are to maintain the confidence of the users in our products. It will drive us to achieve more heights in this field. We will continue to introduce new products in sync with the requirements of the customers. Our sales targets aim northwards.
