We are investing in new line to make 5 micron precision collets

Rewdale Precision Tools Pvt Ltd, the Bangalore-based manufacturer of precision tool holding collets and allied products, has been catering to the quality conscious Indian machine tool manufacturers with premium products. In this interview, Deepak S Bhonsle, Managing Director, Rewdale Precision Tools, highlights on new business prospects and the company's plans for IMTEX 2023.

How is your company serving the manufacturing & machine tools sectors? What is driving the demand for your products/solutions & services?
Rewdale is a manufacturer and exporter of precision tool holding collets and allied products for the last four decades. We export more than 90 per cent of our production to Europe and North America and Korea. Many of our products come back to India with imported machine tools. We are now looking to cater to the quality conscious Indian machine tool manufacturers and users with premium products.

We manufacture collets like ER, TG, DA and Oz, in addition to pull studs and cylindrical collet chucks. Collet is a consumable product and its precision contributes to the quality of the machined components from machine tools. With India transforming into a global sourcing hub, quality tool holding solutions are in high demand.

What is your opinion about the Indian machine tools industry?
Indian machine tool industry today is growing in line with the Indian economy. Due to its domestic consumption, the global slowdown is not affecting it to the extent of other economies. We look to support this growth and would like to be a preferred source for many of the machine tool manufacturers and end users. We also welcome distributors who are looking to provide quality products and solutions to their customers.

What are the growth prospects in the automotive industry, especially when electric vehicles (EVs) are gaining traction?
We look forward to tie up with auto component companies as their preferred source for precision tool holding solutions, either directly or through solutions providers. Yes, electric vehicles will be the future of automobile industry, but it will take another 10 years or so for the EV industry to stabilise and grow, and it too needs many machined components. Till then, the traditional automobile is going to rule the market.

Which other end-user industries are you looking to tap for future business growth?
Aerospace, medical implants and dental industries are potential users of our products. Wind power industry will have a huge requirement of precision machining solutions. Other infrastructure industries are also good markets for us.

Could you please elaborate on some of the emerging trends in the machine tool & accessories industry?
There is a huge requirement for precision machined products from all sectors such as automobile, power generation (turbine machining), electronics, dental and medical implants to name a few. The machine tool industry in India is gearing up for this by developing machines with higher performance capabilities, so that Indian manufacturers need not import machine tools at high costs.

Digitalization (automation) is the buzzword today across the industries. How are you planning to tap this trend?
We have recently introduced ERP to improve the productivity. We are also looking into automation and multi-functional equipment and are working on implementing these in a new cell. What are your plans for IMTEX 2023?
We are planning to introduce the 5 micron range of ER collets, which will be launched in the first quarter of 2023. We also intend to focus on the end user markets for our products. We welcome our users and readers to visit us at IMTEX 2023 (Hall 3B, Stall A119) to discuss further about their requirements.

What are your growth plans for the company in the coming years?
We are investing in a separate line for manufacturing 5 micron precision collets for the global markets.
