We are committed to strengthening India made equipment: Abhishek Bohra

Founded in 1979, BXL Enterprise has built a four-decade legacy in limit switches, evolving from machine tools to serving automation, material handling, textiles, food processing and rail safety. With strong in-house design, rapid tooling and reliable manufacturing, it continues to support India’s OEM-driven industrial growth, shares Abhishek Bohra, Partner, BXL Enterprise.

Could you briefly trace BXL Enterprise’s journey over the past four decades, highlighting its core product portfolio, manufacturing strengths, and key end-use industries served today?
Our journey started in 1979, where we were producing limit switches for use in conventional Machine Tools and Industries. Over the years, we got several opportunities to develop and supply customised switching devices for various industries such as textiles, railways, and AUTOMATION industries, as imports were uneconomical and industry needed to indeginise to remain globally competitive. We have focused on limit switches as our core product line and try to maximise the options you can provide to our customers. In-house designing capabilities, rapid tool making and fast supply have been our hallmark. As a product limit switches are versatile and find application in almost all major manufacturing processes

How has demand evolved across sectors such as material handling, food processing, textiles, and rail safety, and which applications are currently driving growth for your switch
India is a market, which is maturing in choices as well as the capacity to spend. Consequently, demand for rapid industrialisation of manufacturing is growing and driving our  need to manufacture fast, safely and with reliable design. This is where we play a significant role in providing process solutions that are inherently reliable and economical.

With fluctuations in raw material costs, logistics challenges, and changing customer expectations, what strategies has BXL Enterprise adopted to maintain reliability and competitiveness?
Raw material challenges have always been the pain point for most MSME players. Customers, who have been exposed to Global practices, expect us to offer similar products and experiences as well. We are constantly trying to reengineer our products such that we can minimise the failure of a process and maximise the output for the customer, thereby creating satisfaction of purchasing it.

As far as logistics are concerned, although customers are open to systematic service providers, India still has along way to go before logistic services gain that sense of ownership in their respective owners as is held by product makers. The sense of responsibility towards deadlines and accountability to customers is missing. IT systems are saving grace in many cases. Systemic inadequacies do not help their cause anyways. But there doesn't seem any sense of urgency in solving these issues fundamentally.

From an industry perspective, how is the role of safety and control switches evolving across industrial equipment, material handling systems, and other applications?
Over the years, Industry leaders have actively adopted modern safety practises in Indian plants starting from protection against basic electrical hazards. Modern Plant design also considers prevention of accidents due to human error, while enhancing productivity. Given the volume of material being handled and processed, Reliable process control is a must for a safe manufacturing environment.

How do you assess the current state of India’s industrial manufacturing ecosystem, particularly for component makers supplying OEM-driven sectors?
Components level manufacturing within the Indian market is delicately placed due to challenges in the raw material markets and consuming industries. Intense competition between end product makers is very often sustained on the shoulders of component suppliers who have their own challenges to meet. Under such circumstances even well established vendor-manufacturers are finding it difficult to sustain their business effectively. Consequently these are Entry barriers for new entrants into the OEM supply chain, which is also a way of support to the existing players.

What are the key challenges faced by Indian MSME manufacturers today, and how can these be addressed?
Fundamental requirements such as raw materials, manpower, infrastructure etc, have seen rapid improvements in the past years. With the markets growing rapidly, the time is right to gain competitive advantages by way of global aesthetics, quality approvals, quality credentials such as ISO, CE, UL, BIS etc, to differentiate and position our offerings on a superior level.

Did your company introduce any new products/technologies or solutions in 2025? If so, could you share details on their key features, performance advantages, and application benefits?
We are constantly adding products to our range that address most common requirements within automation sector. Based on feedback from our existing customers we have attempted designing devices that are easier to install, faster to commission and robust for long electromechanical lifecycles.

Looking ahead, what are your growth plans? (in terms of capacity expansion, product diversification, distribution reach, entry into new industrial segments and export markets)
BOHMEN products have gradually but consistently moved up the value chain to be able to participate in the design schemes of modern advanced machines. We intend to and are committed to making newer products that help cement India made equipments' reputation as one among the best in the world.
