Vertiv expands operations with state-of-the-art data centre solutions facility in Pune

Vertiv, a worldwide provider of critical digital infrastructure and continuity solutions, has officially opened a new manufacturing facility in Chakan, Pune, to address the escalating demand for data centres and supporting infrastructure solutions in India.

This new plant, complementing Vertiv's existing facilities in Ambernath and Pune, specialises in the production of thermal management products and solutions tailored for data centres, telecom, commercial, and industrial applications. The facility caters to both domestic and international markets.

Encompassing 210,000 square feet/19,510 square meters, the manufacturing unit supports the production of cooling solutions ranging from 200W to 2MW+. These solutions include adiabatic free cooling chillers, large custom air handling units (AHU), thermal wall units, a new range of large direct expansion (DX), packaged DX, and free cooling with economizer units, a new range of in-row cooling units, wall mount units, and rack cooling systems. The facility also features advanced psychometric labs for performance testing, a dedicated customer experience centre, and design support capabilities. It is located in an India Green Building Council (IGBC) compliant park, emphasising sustainability and environmental impact reduction.

Vertiv CEO Giordano (Gio) Albertazzi stated, "With the global rise of digitalisation and rapid AI adoption, the data centre industry is witnessing growth and an increased demand for capacity, particularly in data centre thermal and power infrastructure. India's emergence as a data centre hub in the APAC region is a key driver for establishing this third manufacturing facility in India, reaffirming our commitment to fostering the country's data centre ecosystem and addressing global demand."

According to a JLL report, India's data centre industry is set for a substantial 678 MW expansion in the next three years, elevating its capacity to 1400 MW by 2025, making the nation the 13th largest market globally. Additionally, India Briefing has reported plans for 45 new data centres covering 13 million square feet, with a capacity of 1,015 MW, by 2025. This is projected to drive the industry to a size of $9.27 billion by 2027.

Subhasis Majumdar, Managing Director of Vertiv India, commented, "India is witnessing significant investments in the data centre industry by both domestic and global players. Our new plant, with its state-of-the-art infrastructure, will enable us to provide increased thermal management capacity, streamline lead times, and enhance our capability to deliver tailor-made, large, and complex solutions. In addition to global offerings, Vertiv will align solutions with India's unique environmental and infrastructural needs, ensuring optimal performance and reliability. The new facility also reinforces Vertiv's commitment to the Make in India initiative."
