KSB Pumps - Sinnar Division has won the 2nd prize in large scale industries group, the prestigious "Vasundhara Award 2013". The award was presented by Mr Pruthviraj Chavan Chief Minister, and Mr Ajit Pawar, Dy Chief Minister of Maharashtra to the KSB Sinnar Team in a special function organised in Mumbai on June 06, 2013.

Mr Sunil Bapat, DGM (Operations), Mr Shreepad Khare, GM (Integrated Management Systems), Mr A Bhilare, Manager (HR & Admin), Mr R B Gote, Manager (Integrated Management Systems) and Mr M M Wani, Manager (Maintenance) attended this function.

Maharashtra Pollution Control Board (MPCB) made a survey of the exemplary work carried out by various industries, urban local bodies, towards protection of environment in the State of Maharashtra.

The broad objective of the survey was to:

• Recognize the efforts of industries, urban local bodies who have made significant contributions to sustainable development and made measurable improvements to their performance, whilst achieving their own business plans, service functions and societal objectives
• Put forward role models in sustainable development for Indian industries, urban local bodies, for others to get inspired, and
• Align with international best practices of promoting efforts beyond compliance by practicing sustainability.

The various initiatives taken by KSB Sinnar are: solar panel installed at canteen; wind mill for power generation; replacement of sodium vapour street lamps (240 W) with LED lamps of 24 W; rain water harvesting in the premises; tree plantation on a large scale - there are about 2900 trees in the plant; sprinkler system for conservation of water; effluent treatment plant and sewage treatment plant; reduction of consumption of potable water per employee; conservation of natural resources like wood by using corrugated tubes for packing; as on date 200 products are certified as 5 Star rating products by BEE (Bureau of Energy Efficiency); installation of bio gas plant for organic waste treatment; and installation of generator with acoustic enclosure as well as acoustic hood to reduce noise level.
