UL (Underwriters Laboratories), a global safety science organisation, inaugurated its office in the city of Mumbai recently. The facility was inaugurated by Mr Sajeev Jesudas, President, UL Consumer Business Unit, UL. Mr Suresh Sugavanam, vice president and managing director for UL South Asia (India, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka) was also present to grace the occasion.

With UL's commitment to quality and standardization processes, the Mumbai operations will further strengthen the company's reach and delivery process in the region. This office will primarily cater to certain key sectors - pharma, building & life safety technologies, and energy & power technologies.

Speaking about the office opening, Mr Jesudas, said, "UL plans to focus on customers in the Western Region and to help ensure their products comply with global standards. This is our way to support the Make in India campaign for the industrial sector in the western region."

"UL is delighted to open its 160th facility in India. We foresee this operation as a base to support better access to our clients and help ensure higher efficiencies from the delivery stand point, said Mr Sugavanam.

With the Make in India concept taking roots across the country, UL's Mumbai operations will play a significant role in helping the company meet its objective of enabling world-class manufacturing standards for various industries across the country.
