Mumbai, December 2013: Plastivision India 2013 showcased a dedicated section for solar energy to create awareness of the optimum use of solar power in Plastics industry. "Plastic processing units require consistent energy for manufacturing of plastics; the solar pavilion has been introduced in Plastivision India 2013 with the objective of making the stake holders aware of the productive use of solar energy," said Mr Ashok Mukherjee, Chairman, Solar Energy Pavilion.
Sudden electricity blackout causes tremendous waste in terms of money and energy. The units once shutdown, require intensive heat to restart. Till date the industry uses generators, which result in high consumption of petro products, which in turn increases cost. Use of solar energy enhances the core processing of the plastics resulting in increase in efficiency. At the moment, the government provides subsidies for encouraging the use of solar energy in plastic industry.
While most people are today aware of solar energy used by various industries including plastics industry for production of many products, recently there was a plane flying day and night with the help of solar power and without using a drop of fossil fuel. The Solar Impulse, which is the only solar plane in the world that can fly day and night with a pilot on board without using a drop of fossil fuel, caught maximum eye balls at the Solar Pavilion at Plastivision 2013 held at Bombay Exhibition Centre, Goregaon. Other than the solar pavilion, the fair also witnessed pavilions such as the international, medical, state mould, automation, finished goods and UNIDO.
