In a significant move aimed at enhancing its infrastructure and optimising material transportation capabilities, the Traffic and Raw Material (T&RM) department of SAIL's Rourkela Steel Plant (RSP) welcomed the induction of two BOXNHS wagons on October 9, 2023. The inauguration ceremony was presided over by M N V S Prabhakar, CGM (Services), and Hiralal Mohapatra, GM In-Charge (T&RM), along with other senior officials from RSP.

These newly introduced wagons will be utilised for transporting a variety of materials, including -30mm Limestone, as well as essential commodities such as PCI coal, hard coke, and sinter, among others. This development is poised to significantly fulfil the demands of customer departments like Raw Material Handling Plant (RMHP), Sinter Plant (SP), Blast Furnace (BF), and others.

Each of these advanced BOXNHS wagons comes at a cost of Rs. 36.28 lakhs, underscoring SAIL RSP?s steadfast commitment to quality and efficiency.

It's worth noting that RSP currently boasts a fleet of 484 internal Rolling Stock for transporting finished, semi-finished, by-products, and raw materials. These wagons are meticulously maintained by the Carriage and Wagon Shop of the T&RM department. Among these 484 wagons, there are 54 BOXN/BOXNHS wagons.

With the addition of these new wagons, SAIL Rourkela Steel Plant continues to establish new standards in the steel industry, further reinforcing its position as a pioneer in innovation, quality, and customer satisfaction.
