Erlangen (Germany) October 2016 – Due to the constant increase in the number of renewable energy sources, an inadequate quality of supply is one of the most frequent causes of unplanned downtime and damage to equipment in today's electricity supply networks. To improve the acquisition and analysis of power quality, Siemens now offers the Sicam Q200 power supply system analyzer. Sicam Q200 measures and analyzes all important power supply parameters, thus permitting the early identification of weak points that could interfere with power quality and preventing unplanned interruptions. The measurement and analysis data supplied by the device helps define and implement appropriate measures to maintain supply quality at a level tailored to the needs of the consumer, thus reducing downtime and extending the lifetime of equipment in the power grid.
The Sicam Q200 power supply system analyzer can be used to acquire, visualize, analyze, and transmit electrical characteristics such as current, voltage, frequency, power, and harmonics. It acquires and processes the measured variables and events in accordance with IEC 61000-4-30, Ed. 3 and also identifies the origin of a malfunction by acquiring and calculating the harmonic power parameters and the associated harmonic angles. It transmits the measured variables via a PC, power automation system, or SCADA system and shows the values on a display. In addition to these monitoring functions, it permits the combined recording and analysis of the measured values directly in the device. Long-term data and events can also be sent to higher-level power analysis systems such as Sicam PQS and the PQ Analyzer System for evaluation.
The power supply system analyser can be operated via an integrated web server for purposes of diagnosis, evaluation, and reporting, which reduces commissioning and training costs. Interoperability is guaranteed thanks to standard interfaces and standard protocols such as IEC 61850 and Modbus TCP as well as various data exchange formats. Sicam Q200 is a Class A acc. IEC 62586-1/2 and IEC 61000-4-30 Ed. 3 beyond Class A power quality device used in single-phase as well as three-wire and four-wire systems (with neutral conductor).
Multifunctional measuring devices for power grid automation solutions are part of the Siemens Division Energy Management's product portfolio. As a product supplier, system integrator, and solution and service provider, the Division offers power supply companies and industry cost-efficient, reliable, and intelligent solutions for the transmission and distribution of electrical power.
