The Indian Electrical & Electronics Manufacturers' Association (IEEMA) - the apex body for the Indian power equipment manufacturing industry - has announced the appointment of Mr Vishal Gakhar as Director General.

Mr Gakhar has varied experience of over 17 years having worked in a similar kind of organisation. Prior to IEEMA, he was working with Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) and was responsible for heading the special initiatives and policy department in Western Region apart from handling sectors such as logistics, healthcare, infrastructure and verticals including sustainability, green business, climate change and family business. He has facilitated various policy matters with Central and State governments and has facilitated trade and business across various industrial sectors.

Mr Gakhar during his tenure with CII has strengthened it's membership and established offices in Pune and Gujarat. He has taken various new initiatives and has been involved in successfully running the Pune Power Model, which has contributed, immensely to the growth of industries, especially in Pune. He has been involved in coordinating various activities of the Vibrant Gujarat since it's inception in 2003 and was a member of the promotional delegation which visited the West Coast of US and Canada which attracted large investors and visitors to the Vibrant Gujarat 2011. He has facilitated the formation of the Pune City Connect Development Foundation (PCCDF), which would look at innovative solutions in areas such as traffic management, infrastructure and civic facilities improvement.

IEEMA is a 64-year-old trade association representing the Indian electrical and industrial electronics industry. IEEMA has over 750 members with a combined annual turnover over US$22 billion. IEEMA is consulted for policy formulation as the industry-government interface, and evolves product standards alongside India's standards setting body the BIS.
