New Delhi to Have Two Mega Manufacturing & Services Projects

"We are very committed to attract investments in Delhi and make world class infrastructure available here. Delhi has been growing @ 15 % per year during the last one decade against 8-9% on All India basis and Delhi also contributes 3.8% of the national GDP. We need to work on skills development, adoption of green technologies on PPP mode", asserted Mr Shakti Sinha, Principal Secretary, Industries & CMD, DSIIDC, Govt of NCT of Delhi, while addressing the Delhi State Session of CII's Invest North 2012 at Gurgaon. Mr Sinha then released the CII - KPMG Report on 'Investment Climate in Delhi'

While inviting investments from industry at the CII's session, he unveiled two mega upcoming Industrial Infrastructure Development projects, - "We are coming up with Multi-level Manufacturing Hub at Mundka - Ranikhera, North - West Delhi, spread over an area of approx. 147 acres and another - Knowledge Based Industries ( KIB) Park in Baprola on Delhi Nazafgarh Road, spread over 83 acres. Both these projects would be at 10 Kms distance and complement each other. While, Electronics component manufacturing, Systems testing, IT hardware manufacturing, Semi-conductor manufacturing, Gems & Jewellery Manufacturing , Bio-Technology etc would be done at Mundka - Ranikhera Manufacturing hub while IT Services, Design and Media would be taken care of at Baprola Knowledge Based Industries ( KBI) Park".

Elaborating on the KIB Project at Baprola, he added, "We would be providing a well developed, organised and high-tech work space to clean, green and Knowledge Based Industries in Baprola, Delhi as per the Industrial Policy. It would cost around Rs. 1800 Crores and provide direct employment to 1, 00,000 and indirect employment to 1, 70,000 people. We would also provide housing units to KBI workers and to economically weaker sections.

Mr Naveen Munjal, Vice Chairman, CII Delhi State Council shared that "Delhi has various advantages which can be leveraged to make it an attractive destination for investments, foremost being Connectivity. We however need to upgrade infrastructure to a world class level to bring Delhi into the list of most attractive destinations."
