Morocco for diversifying bilateral trade

"We need to "spice up" our bilateral trade relations, by further diversifying our mutual trade and should include new sectors, to meet the requirements of the refined Indian and Moroccan tastes" Mr Abdellatif Mazouz, Minister of Foreign Trade of the Kingdom of Morocco and Co-Chairman of the Morocco-Indian Joint Economic Commission, said while speaking at "India Morocco Business Forum" organised by CII in the New Delhi recently.

He added that attractive sectors for cooperation were textile and clothing, ICT, automotive, pharmaceutical and food-processing industries, there should be consolidation of ties by forging partnerships and that Morocco was looking to India for investments in mega-projects.

Mr. Subodh Bhargava, Past President, CII & Chairman, TATA Communications Ltd, said that bilateral relationship needed to be reinforced and new areas of trade explored apart from the traditional trade areas of commerce.

CII would constitute a Task Force for India Morocco Economic Cooperation to accelerate bilateral economic relations between both the countries, he added.

According to Mr Rajiv Kher, Additional Secretary, Department of Commerce, Ministry of Commerce and Industry: there was lot of synergy between India and Morocco, as it offered a suitable location, right political environment where India's manufacturing and services could be utilised.

India was playing a very important role in world economic relations and would continue to so, said Mr. Mohamed BELMAHI, Chairman of the Joint Moroccan-Indian Business Council & former Ambassador of Morocco to India.
