February 2017 – An end unit system with an integrated load cell known as Active Link has been introduced by Modulift – an adjustable lifting beam solutions provider based in UK. It will provide wireless real time data by measuring the load at either end of the spreader beam, which can be observed in a computer or a tablet. The active link is compatible with the existing range of Modulift spreader beams.

The Active Link offers efficiency in cost, time and weight by reducing the need of an extra measurement unit. The height of the rigging tool is decreased which helps in applications with low headroom, making it as an added feature.

In order to incorporate the Active link, Modulift worked with Straightpoint – a load monitoring and load cell equipment specialist – so that its strain gauge technology could be implemented into the new spreader beam. Modulift has worked closely with UK load monitoring and load cell equipment specialist – Straightpoint, to integrate its strain gauge technology into the new spreader beam concept.

Generally rigging a load cell into a crane or lifting application takes up a considerable amount of space. But in case of Modulift spreader beam, the drop link is set up in an adaptable manner providing efficient usage.

The Active Link range will be AL 12, AL 24, AL 34, AL 50, AL 70 and AL 70H, having capacity upto 100t based on standard Modulift beam sizes.
