Nuremberg, Germany, 17 April 2013 - Mettler Toledo, a global leader in weighing technology, is an exhibitor at Powtech (April 23-25 in Nuremburg), an international trade fair for mechanical processing technologies and instrumentation. At Powtech, Mettler Toledo will showcase a robot made in collaboration with Asyril SA, a developer of miniature mechatronic devices of automation in micro-, nano- and bio-technology.

The robot is an automatic vial-weighing device that replaces manual weighing and calibrating. This robot ensures accurate weighing and calibration and gives scientists and engineers more time to work on more important tasks while reducing the risk of manual error. It has an incorporated high-precision weigh module made by Mettler Toledo and is made for use in chemical and pharmaceutical applications that demand accurate weighing and calibration.

Another Mettler Toledo exhibit will be Secure Tank Scale Performance. Weigh modules for tank scales with fully digital load cells prevent loss of material, bad batches and downtime. They compensate for environmental influences, offer predictive maintenance and allow for simple installation. Mettler Toledo will showcase its PinMountTM weigh module, which features truly digital Powercell? PDX? load cells.

The PinMount weigh module offers true predictive maintenance, simplified and reliable communication and watertight load cells that work even when submerged. The incorporated Powercell PDX load cells host an on-board microprocessor to monitor internal and external influences that affect weighing accuracy. It compensates for temperature changes, vibrations, hysteresis and non-linearity, providing extraordinarily accurate results.

A breach-detection system alerts users if the enclosure is damaged by accidental puncture or tampering. It also alerts users to replace a load cell before moisture causes weighing errors or scale failure, increasing uptime and preventing loss of raw material and bad batches.

The load cells connect to each other in a simple network, eliminating junction boxes. Electronic components are protected inside hermetically sealed load-cell enclosures. The load cell, including all cables and connectors, is water-tight, effectively sealing the entire network against moisture according to IP68 standards.
