KBL Sodium Pump showcased at the India UK Tech Summit

Pune, December 1, 2016: Kirloskar Brothers Limited (KBL), a leading fluid management company showcased its sodium pump used in nuclear reactors at the India UK Tech Summit – 2016. The Tech Summit was envisaged during Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to the UK in November last year to reinforce the friendship between India and the U.K. The event was organised at the Taj Palace Hotel, New Delhi during 7th-9th November, 2016.

The event focused on bringing together the most exciting thought leaders, businesses, educational institutions and innovators to connect and explore the future of India-UK collaboration. Sodium pumps are majorly used in fast-breeder nuclear reactors. KBL is the first Indian company to develop this critical application sodium pump. Since its inception in India, KBL has been associated with the country’s nuclear power development programme.

Currently, Kirloskar pumps play an integral role in all nuclear reactors in India. KBL uses indigenous technology for critical applications in sodium pumps. The technology offered by the company has been approved by several major global players.

KBL is recognised for bringing revolutionary innovations in the space of global fluid management in addition to maintaining high standards of manufacturing. All manufacturing facilities of KBL are ISO 9001:2008, ISO 14001, ISO 50001, BS OHSAS 18001 and SA8000 certified. It is the first pump manufacturing company in India and ninth in the world to be accredited with the N and NPT certification by American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME). KBL’s corporate office in Pune is platinum-rated green building, certified for ISO 9001:2008 & SA8000, which clearly proves its commitment to environment.
