Kaynes Technology India is set to enter the realm of High-Density Interconnect (HDI) board manufacturing, aiming to enrich the Electronic Manufacturing Services (EMS) ecosystem.

In the domain of Printed Circuit Boards (PCBs), Kaynes Technology has opted out of traditional PCB production, choosing instead to focus on High-Density Interconnect (HDI) boards. Currently, AT&S in Mysuru produces a limited quantity of these boards.

Kaynes Tech’s primary objective is to specialise in HDI boards, allocating approximately 60% to 70% of its production capacity to HDI boards and the remaining 40% to multi-layer boards. This strategic positioning establishes the company as a dedicated player in high-tech, high-mix, mid-size volume production.

Recognising the challenges posed by a saturated market for conventional double-sided and single-sided PCBs with slim profit margins, Kaynes Tech acknowledges the need to focus on high-end products. These include boards with dimensions of 3×3 mil and 2.5×3 mil, catering to the demands of the high-end market and presenting more favorable pricing opportunities. These dimensions signify very small and high-precision PCBs.

HDI (High-Density Interconnect) boards represent an advanced category of printed circuit boards designed to offer exceptional interconnect density within a compact form factor. They are distinguished by densely packed components and fine-pitched traces, rendering them ideal for diverse high-tech and high-performance applications. HDI boards bring benefits such as enhanced signal integrity, reduced size, and superior electrical performance.

These specialised HDI printed circuit boards find applications across various industries, including satellite communications, automotive driving assistance systems, consumer electronics, aircraft, engine controls, digital cameras, smartphones, and medical devices.
