Industrial units located at the Jeedimetla Industrial Area at Hyderabad are protesting against the massive power cuts in the area that is affecting production causing losses worth several hundred crores of rupees. For the last 7 months, the city has power cuts for 3 days in a week (Sundays, Mondays and Tuesdays). And in spite of having a healthy order book, industries in the area cannot keep the production schedules and execute orders due to the severe power shortage, thereby causing huge losses.

Since the last one week, all the industrialists walked on the road of Jeedimetla Industrial Estate and sat on a continuous hunger strike in front of APCPDCL (Andhra Pradesh Central Power Distribution Company Ltd) office. The hunger strike was organised by JIA (Jeedimetla Industrial Association)

TDP president Sri Nara Chadrababu Naidu has extended full support to the demand of the industrial estates in and around Hyderabad for assured power supply of 350 MW without fail. Addressing a delegation of industrialists from Jeedimetla Industries Association who called on him at NTR Bhavan recently, the TDP president expressed solidarity for their dharna in front of the APTRANSCO office on December 13th and the proposed dharna at Indira Park on December 15th.

The delegates informed Naidu that the power cuts had caused huge production losses to them in the month as the power cuts were of the order of 61 per cent in October and 45 per cent in November. Industries were losing their orders and subsequently mounting losses.
