Intel boosts India's laptop manufacturing: Game-Changer for 'Make in India' initiative

Intel, a global technology leader, is partnering with eight Indian Electronics Manufacturing Services (EMS) and Original Design Manufacturers (ODMs) to boost the laptop manufacturing industry in India. This aligns with the 'Make in India' campaign, reflecting Intel's commitment to fostering electronic manufacturing in the country.

Intel's involvement aims to revolutionise the industry by providing expertise, operational insights, and comprehensive support for entry-level laptop production. The collaboration includes support for companies new to laptop manufacturing, many of which are entering the sector for the first time.

The collaborating companies include Bhagwati Products Ltd, Dixon Technologies India Ltd, Kaynes Technology India Ltd, Optiemus Electronics Ltd, Panache Digilife Ltd, Smile Electronics Ltd, Syrma SGS Technology Ltd, and VVDN Technologies Private Ltd.

Intel's support goes beyond providing insights; it also includes state-of-the-art manufacturing processes and quality control for components and finished products. This is expected to enhance the quality and competitiveness of laptops manufactured in India.

Intel's commitment extends to ODMs involved in both Semi Knocked Down (SKD) and Completely Knocked Down (CKD) processes, optimising the entire manufacturing ecosystem.

Santhosh Viswanathan, Vice President & Managing Director of Intel India Region, emphasises Intel's role as a fundamental enabler of electronic ecosystems globally and its vision for India.

The collaboration aligns with Prime Minister Narendra Modi's vision for India's digital economy, and Union Minister Rajeev Chandrasekhar voices support for fostering Indian electronics manufacturing.

Intel's involvement is set to catalyse growth in the sector, with a focus on entry-level devices and plans for premium products. The India Tech Ecosystem Summit in November will showcase a wider portfolio of locally made devices, advancing the 'Make in India' initiative and positioning India on the global electronics industry stage.

In conclusion, Intel's collaboration with Indian companies is a significant step toward self-reliance and technological advancement, aligning with the 'Make in India' initiative and fostering India's digital economy and electronics manufacturing ecosystem.
