Indian Machine Tool Industry Sustains Performance in Tough Times

Bangalore, 7 January 2014: Indian Machine Tool Manufacturers' Association (IMTMA) is back with its International Forming Technology Exhibition - IMTEX FORMING 2014, and concurrent show Tooltech 2014, to be held from 23rd-28th January 2014. This 6-day expo will be held at IMTMA's own state-of-the-art exhibition facility - Bangalore International Exhibition Centre (BIEC), Tumkur Road.

IMTEX Forming 2014 is an exclusive business-to-business exhibition attracting the attention of manufacturing domain experts specialized in press working, sheet metal forming and processing from the organizers of the globally-renowned IMTEX brand. The uniqueness of this IMTEX fair is about its focus on the exhaustive range of forming technologies for varied engineering applications. The highlights of the show will be the display of 'Live Technologies' in the forming segment such as laser, servo presses, robotics & automation, welding & joining, and wire-forming & drawing.

IMTEX Forming 2014 is a greatly expanded fair and includes all forming technologies predominantly in metals, plastics, ceramics, composites and exotic materials; manifestation of which has one ultimate objective: enabling manufacturing excellence through superior technologies, world-class productivity and cost-competitiveness

Concurrent Show Tooltech 2014 is 16th in the series and will feature recent innovations and tooling technologies for precision finish of dies & moulds, forming tools, machine accessories, metrology and CAD/CAM.

Sharing his views on the Machine Tool industry, Mr L Krishnan, President - IMTMA, said, "The Machine Tool Industry has sustained performance during the economic slowdown. The current market size of the machine tool industry stands at US$ 2050 million of which the domestic production makes for around 33% of the total consumption. The last 2 quarters have shown signs of improvement in order inflow. The key user industries such as the Automobile, Auto Components, Defence, Aerospace and Power are set to fuel the growth of Indian machine tool industry".

On the occasion, Mr Shailesh Sheth, Media Chairman, IMTMA said, "Over the years IMTEX has been a driving force for the exponential growth of Indian Machine Tool Industry. The key emphasis of IMTEX Forming 2014 is to enable manufacturing excellence through superior technologies, world-class productivity and cost-competitiveness. IMTEX Forming 2014 promises to be a specialised-trade fair on metal forming machine tool industry that will attract buyers and manufacturing professionals and will enhance technological efficiency across various sectors."

Constituted in the year 1946 for promotional support, Indian Machine Tool Manufacturers' Association (IMTMA) is a Single Point of Contact for the Machine Tool Industry in India. The apex body of machine tool industry in the country, IMTMA has a membership of about 475 companies from both public and private sectors, manufacturing a wide range of metal-cutting and metal-forming machines, accessories, cutting tools and other ancillary equipment. IMTMA plays a key role in the growth and development of this industry sector, which forms the base for all manufacturing activities. Currently manufacturing sector results in 15% of India's GDP.

The Association has over the years transformed itself to looking beyond, to focus on issues of productivity, quality, technology, new product development, design, customer satisfaction, etc. for enhancing competitiveness of the industry in both domestic and overseas markets.
