Gautam Solar files patent for AI-based system to detect defects in solar panels

Gautam Solar, manufacturer of Technically Advanced ModulesTM, files a patent for its latest artificial intelligence (AI)-based system to detect defects in solar panels. This innovative solution integrates advanced imaging and AI technologies to enhance the efficiency and precision of defect detection in photovoltaic cells, setting a new benchmark in the solar industry. The system includes 100% EL testing, incorporating both pre and post-production stages with AI-assisted analysis.

The patent, titled "AI-Based System for Detecting Defects in Solar Panels," leverages electroluminescence (EL) and visual imaging to provide comprehensive real-time defect analysis. This system captures high-resolution EL images through an infrared camera and processes them using advanced machine-learning algorithms. The results are displayed with defect labels, enabling immediate identification and corrective action.

Highlighting the system's unique benefits, Gautam Solar's invention addresses the limitations of conventional methods, which lack automation and often result in human error. The AI-powered software is trained using a comprehensive database of stored images, enabling it to analyse and provide results with remarkable accuracy, the system ensures high precision and enhances throughput, reducing manual intervention and improving production efficiency.

Gautam Mohanka, Director, Gautam Solar said, "Innovation is at the core of our mission at Gautam Solar. This AI-powered defect detection system will transform quality control in the solar manufacturing process, ensuring greater reliability and performance for Technically Advanced ModulesTM while reducing production inefficiencies. We are committed to driving the solar industry towards a smarter, more sustainable future."

This advanced system is designed to detect various defects, including micro-cracks, broken cells, dry soldering, latent defects, black borders, scratches, and non-functioning cells. Additionally, it ensures robust analysis at various stages.

The development of this AI-based system marks a significant step forward in the field of solar technology. By integrating real-time monitoring and AI-driven repair suggestions, Gautam Solar’s AI System to address defects early, thereby improving the overall quality and reliability of solar panels.
