The seventh edition of Excon 2013, an exhibition on construction equipment and construction technology was inaugurated by Oscar Fernandes, Minister of Road Transport & Highways Minister, Government of India, in Bangalore. The five day exhibition, which will run till November 24, at the Bangalore International Exhibition Centre (BIEC) has witnessed participation of over 730 exhibitors 18 countries including Germany, Japan, Italy, Turkey, Sweden and China.

Excon is an exhibition of the construction equipment industry, organised once in two years by the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII). The exhibition showcased the latest advancements in construction engineering with emphasis on latest products, equipments and technologies with specific emphasis on efficiency, productivity, safety, environment protection and construction quality. Excon is the Asia's third largest and South Asia's largest event for construction equipment industry.

After inaugurating the five-day event, Mr Fernandes said, his ministry has decided to take up and fast track few expressway projects for the benefit of the industry. The expressways will provide enough opportunity for industry to grow along these express ways. The Mumbai-Vadodara Expressway is going to be speeded up, the eastern and western peripheral expressways are also going to take up, also Delhi Jaipur expressway.

The event has live demonstrations of equipments for earthmoving and construction, lifting, material handling, concrete making, hydraulics and pneumatics, drills, power tools and piling, electronics, controls and instrumentation, asphalt, compactors, compressors and generators besides components, accessories and consumables. Exhibitors of Original Equipment Manufacturers offer "on the ground" experience for customers, most of who have come from various parts of India and abroad. The visitors have the opportunity to benchmark product features of different makes, interact about their requirements with technical heads, and negotiate deals with chief executives.
