Copeland Scroll compressors have proven to be an essential element in improving the energy efficiency and reliability of air-conditioning systems. Today, Emerson is designing India-specific Copeland Scroll compressors down to 2-ton capacity for split air-conditioning units. Copeland Scroll compressors are now being utilized in the production of air conditioners built by some of the major OEMs in India, such as Blue Star, Carrier, Hitachi, and LG. It is the first time that this technology has been made available for the home and small office markets, giving Indian users access to a world-class compressor that not only saves energy, but also provides enhanced comfort and value by virtue of its low noise output and compact design.

The Copeland Scroll compressors powering 3, 4, and 5-star air conditioners offer energy savings of over 20% compared to typical compressor technologies. For commercial 2-ton air conditioner users, the Copeland Scroll powered 5-star air conditioners will be even more valuable since the electricity tariff in India is almost double for commercial users compared to residential in major cities. The compressors are capable of providing 5-star energy efficiency not only today, but also in 2014 when the star-labeling standards are expected to be increased.
