Emerson drives & motors business now ISO9001 Certified

Emerson has announced that its combined drives and motors business is now certified to the ISO9001: 2008 quality management system.

The certification covers 20 Control Techniques and Leroy-Somer locations, called Automation Centres, in Western Europe, with further sites planned through to 2017.

The quality management system (QMS) deployed by Emerson is based on 11 new core processes and a quality manual applicable to the Automation Centres. The processes were devised and commissioned by an international team of colleagues from Control Techniques and Leroy-Somer. Working together for almost a year, each member of the team had specific expertise in quality management.

The Emerson site in Italy has been certified by accredited third party certification body, DNV-GL, as the principal location of 20 in Western Europe, while a total of 28 sites worldwide including South Africa, Dubai and India will be covered by 2017.

“This certification is recognition of our organization and commitment to support the automation solutions we implement. It also strengthens our pledge to reach outstanding levels of customer satisfaction,” said Tommaso Manetti, QMS Manager for Emerson’s drives and motors business.

ISO9001 enables Emerson’s drives and motors business to demonstrate that it offers products and services of consistently high quality, while also acting as a tool to streamline processes and introduce additional efficiencies. It also enhances the organization’s ability to satisfy its customers and provides a coherent foundation for growth and sustained success, along with an ethos of continuous improvement through objective measurements. In September, ISO9001: 2015 was released, and Emerson will now have three years to migrate to the latest version of this flagship quality management system.
