EMAG India shifts manufacturing landscape

How do you see the journey of your company since its inception?
EMAG India has evolved significantly alongside the manufacturing landscape of our nation. Starting as a mere machine tool trader, we have transformed into a pivotal manufacturing partner for our clients, contributing value across the entire spectrum of part production. Our journey has seen the establishment of a spare part warehouse in Bengaluru, the introduction of a comprehensive application engineering facility, strengthening of our customer support infrastructure, and enhancing the re-tooling capabilities of our teams.

Could you please share with us some of the new developments in your company in the last two years?
Over the past two years, we have made significant strides in enhancing our service offerings. We have inaugurated a state-of-the-art spare part facility in Bengaluru, equipped to address critical spare part needs promptly. Additionally, we have installed a live mock-up of our VL2 machine at our tech centre, allowing customers to experience our machining capabilities first-hand. We have also expanded our portfolio to include EV and Non-EV transmission parts, showcasing our technological prowess.

What are key trends in the machine tools industry, particularly in your segment?
The machine tools industry, especially in our segment, is witnessing notable trends. There's a discernible shift in focus within the auto component sector, transitioning from IC engines to electric vehicles (EVs). There is a growing demand for tighter tolerances in non-auto industries, driving the need for advanced machining solutions.

How is the demand for your products & solutions from the automobile and auto component industry, particularly with the rise of electric vehicles and lightweighting?
Demand for precision part manufacturing is surging, necessitating high-quality production for both domestic and export markets. The rise of EVs and lightweighting initiatives, have allowed our machines to play a crucial role in meeting these evolving demands. For instance, our EMAG GT machine integrates turning and grinding operations, showcasing our ability to adapt to industry trends.

Which non-automotive industries are driving the demand for your products & solutions?
Non-automotive sectors like defence, aerospace, railways, and electronics are significant drivers of demand. Particularly, defence and aerospace manufacturing are experiencing rapid growth. Additionally, components for infrastructure and agriculture sectors, such as pump and off-road vehicle parts, contribute to our market growth.

How are factors like automation and sustainability influencing customer demand and your product offerings?
Automation is becoming increasingly crucial, with EMAG offering it as a standard feature. Particularly post-COVID, automation has gained momentum, aligning with our philosophy of reducing human error in the manufacturing process. Sustainability is also a key focus, driving our efforts towards man-less machines and eco-friendly manufacturing practices.

What are the key challenges faced by SMEs like yours?
While the ease of doing business has improved, SMEs still encounter hurdles, especially concerning taxation, compliance, and regulatory frameworks. Simplifying these processes would significantly aid in SME growth and development.

What are your growth plans for the future?
We are focused on expanding our capabilities in application engineering, re-tooling, and machine retrofitting. Our aim is to streamline processes and reduce turnaround times for our customers, ensuring seamless operations and continued growth.
