Elecon Engineering Company Limited, one of the India's largest Material Handling Equipments and Transmission Products manufactures, has announced that it has built a new state-of-the-art manufacturing plant as an expansion of the Elecon Gear Division. Located near Prayas Engineering (Anand), this modern engineering plant has been built to double the gearbox manufacturing capacity using world class quality and to ensure on-time delivery within a short span of time.

The new plant will produce internal components of the helical gearbox and has a capacity of manufacturing 1000 gearboxes per month. The "Lean Manufacturing" system with different types of lean tools like 5S, 7 waste, SMED, TPM, Kanban, Kaizen will be implemented at the plant. The overall efficiency and condition of the equipment as well as the selection of machines, work holding devices, tool management, swarf management, coolant management and work handling systems will be optimal, thus minimizing labour fatigue. The components will be produced in a dust-free and eco-friendly environment.

Mr Prayasvin Patel, Chairman and Managing Director, Elecon Engineering said, "The construction of this modern facility is another step towards our motto 'Always a step ahead in Technology.' The new shed is designed to be an icon and will represent the image of the Elecon Group of Companies. With this enhanced facility we aim to increase our turnover by 33% within the period of one year."

With interior dimensions of 92 mtr x 42 mtr x 11.2 mtr (L x B x H), contemporary aesthetics and construction, this is certainly a one-of-its kind plant for any Indian engineering company.
