Efficient Water Management Critical for Sustainable Future

Bangalore, 20th December 2012: Efficient water management is today the need of the hour and critical for industries and institutions for a sustainable future, said Mr Dinesh Sadasivan, Executive Director and CEO of Ion Exchange Services Ltd (IESL). Mr Sadasivan was addressing a packed audience at Bangalore at the recently held Clean India Show, the international show on cleanliness and hygiene, where he spoke extensively on the need for planning for water security, emerging trends and technologies in water and waste water management, and value added service offerings for total water management solutions.

"There is tremendous pressure on available finite water resources due to rapid industrialization, expanding population, increasing pollution and excessive use and misuse of water. India will be hardest hit by water scarcity, the usable water reduction from 3500 cu.m/person/year in 1951 to drop to approx 750 cu.m/person/year by 2050," said Mr Dinesh Sadasivan. "Hence the need of the hour is to seriously look at an effective water treatment and water management services, especially by industries and institutions."

Speaking on emerging trends and technologies in water & waste water management, and value added service offerings for total water management solutions, Mr Dinesh Sadasivan emphasized on the need to use various technology options now available to re-use and recycle water available from different sources leading to saving and optimum utilization of existing water resources.

"There is a participatory approach required for water conservation and optimum utilization, by enlightened industries and institutions, citizen action groups, municipalities and water treatment companies," concluded Mr Dinesh Sadasivan. "Industry should seriously look at adopting various value added service offerings from a qualified service provider for total water management solutions like water audits, remote monitoring systems and water treatment plant on rental basis, instrumentation and automation solutions, oxygen detector for STPs, etc."
