With rising power generation cost, Solar shall be the only cheapest power option, in coming 3 to 4 years. GOI has done away with its previous Herculean lengthy processes involving state agencies, approvals, etc., installation clearances that took years to come through.

Now in its recent move it has allowed direct depreciation to end user, working with a 80% benefit on its first year and 20% on its subsequent, the consumer gets a direct benefit on his ITR in a form of a direct saving of 25-30% making his investment not only smaller and an early ROI.

"Government's allowance on claiming direct depreciation by end-users having installed solar plant shall come as booster to the country," claims Rakesh Bansal, Founder Uniline Energy System, a home grown Power Solution Enterprise.

"This shall attract many to turn their house, factories and other establishments into Solar Energy Bank - where not only the usage is direct - but the extra can be feed back to the grid against reimbursement," he added.

Typically solar power generation costs approx Rs 80,000/- to Rs 100,000/- for 1 kW and Rs 150,000/- to 180,000/- for 2 kW, this keeps reducing as one goes up the ladder. Any enterprise making a solar investment or a conman man makes his house a solar bank, stands to benefit through this largely.

In an interaction with the Union government, Bansal said, "With growing awareness on Solar Power such schemes are very encouraging, we are fully geared up to handle solution in any areas where solar energy is required, such steps are much welcoming and shall pave way in making India energy sufficient, sooner than one can think."

Investment Chart

A domestic user using 5-6 units a day, i.e., 150-180 units a month - now can easily look to invest Rs 80,000 to 100,000/- to get power and feed the extra to the grid and earn thereof. He not only saves on his electricity bills to the tune of a whopping Rs 12,000-13,000 a year - but also earns when he feeds the extra generated/unused power to the grid.

The investment further eases down as the main equipment, i.e., the solar panel that extends its life beyond 25 years plus his existing inverter batteries from home can be used that shall further lower his immediate investment.

In the recent flood hit state of Jammu and Kashmir, electricity poles ware broken and washed away - only solar powered homes and establishment continued normally charging their mobile phones and using light and power, making solar establishment far safer against natural calamities.
