CPCB2 emission norms to come into force by April 1, 2014

The long awaited CPCB2 new legislation on stringent emission norms could come into effect from April 1, 2014. This would be for genset diesel engines producing up to 800kW power. Commenting on the development, Farrokh N. Cooper, Chairman and Managing Director, Cooper Corporation, said, "We welcome the implementation of these norms. They will certainly help the nation by reducing pollution, reduce cost of medical care and thus will improve the health condition of the population and lead to good and healthy life to all Indians."He added, "We trongly believe that the latest CPCB 2 Emission Rules is a breakthrough legislation which will drastically reduce the pollution of the environment and will take India's Generators ahead of those in Europe and America". In exercise of the powers conferred by section 6 and 25 of the Environment (Protection) Act 1986 (29 of 1986), the Central Government has introduced new rules further to amend the Environment (Protection) Rules.1986.
