Bosch India offers connected solutions for mining segment

Bengaluru, December 2016 – Bosch, a leading supplier of technology and services, has been working in the connected domain – relating to fleet and logistics management – for close to a decade now. Using the Bosch Internet of Things (IoT) platform and expertise available across various domains, Bosch India is developing a solution that connects miners and mining equipment. “The solution from Bosch can increase the levels of automation in the mining industry. Smart mining improves operational efficiency as it enhances productivity through improved asset utilization,” said Mr Sreenivasan, head, engineering, off-highway solutions, Bosch India. Adding further he stated, “The solution also helps the mining OEM to focus on accountability by reducing costs, thus improving profitability. In the future Bosch India will look to acquire large mining automation projects in India as well as abroad.”

Bosch’s solution enables the mining OEM to track the movement of associates using the Group’s access control system. Additionally, to gauge the entry of heavy commercial vehicles Bosch provides an RFID based boom barrier control solution. Sharing more insights about this development, Mr Sreenivasan commented, “The overall solution harnesses the different competencies available within Bosch to derive meaningful insights during surface mining operations.” Elaborating further he mentioned, “Apart from addressing concerns relating to fleet and miner management Bosch’s solution aims to address other key pain points of the mining segment, like production, maintenance and dispatch management.”

Bosch has taken a holistic approach over multiple phases to address region specific problems. While the current solution is targeted to meet the requirements specific to the Indian scenario, Bosch is keen to offer other innovations to the mining industry. Bosch existing competence in mobility and industrial sector with know how of engine control and hydraulics, are the clear differentiators the Group brings to its customer. “Bosch is able to offer core technologies, such as connectivity, video surveillance and access control systems providing an indisputable value proposition to mining companies,” said Mr Sreenivasan.
