"Science has always played a key role at Bayer resulting in pioneering inventions that revolutionized medicine, chemistry and materials development. Our innovative materials and solutions improve people's lives and create value," explains Ajay Durrani, Managing Director, Bayer MaterialScience. "Whether it is the discovery of Polyurethanes in 1937 or the birth of CDs made with Bayer's Makrolon? polycarbonate, Bayer MaterialScience has worked closely with customers to bring out the magic of materials."

With a futuristic vision, Bayer works on joint developments with industry OEMs and customers to create sustainable product solutions that find a very good fit for a variety of applications today. The Company's product technology, global experience and local expertise can bring many more innovative applications to the Indian industry that address the needs of the future.

An example of the close cooperation between Bayer MaterialScience and partners along the value chain is the new, integrated INSQIN? solution concept. The brand stands for a complete set of solutions from Bayer MaterialScience for textile coatings incorporating exclusively waterborne polyurethane technology. It encompasses all aspects of the process chain, from materials development to production by certified manufacturers.

Another is the innovative, extremely flat LED lamp from EDC GmbH, which opens a whole new range of possibilities for energy-efficient light concepts. The "F | limy? Flat," for example, is perfectly suited to those situations where there is little space for lamps or when special design solutions are needed. The special feature of the LED lamp is a flat substrate made from Makrolon polycarbonate from Bayer MaterialScience. At just 1.8 mm, it is as thin as a CD and can be round or square.

This product is a result of collaborative work on design and product technology innovation between Bayer MaterialScience and EDC, Germany. The company manufactures this LED light using optical grade Makrolon which has very high transparency, excellent flow properties, high dimension stability and mechanical strength.

Electrical Vehicles need robust and reliable charging infrastructure with an end-to-end solution. The Bayer plastic Makrolon is ideal for robust, cost effective charging stations.

It doesn't just withstand subzero temperatures and rain - it also offers protection against vandalism. Materials from Bayer MaterialScience are found in all aspects of electric mobility - from vehicles and batteries to charging stations.

Further, for every type of charging equipment configuration and market segment, Bayer MaterialScience offers material solutions that are not only compliant with regulatory standards but also cost-effective, scalable and offer freedom of design.

Building energy efficiency can be increased significantly by using the right insulation. Rigid polyurethane foam has a higher insulating performance than all other common insulating materials on the market. It therefore is also ideally suited to reducing the energy consumption and CO2 emissions of buildings. Key products include universal insulation boards for buildings, and sandwich panels used primarily to insulate industrial and warehouse buildings.

Bayer MaterialScience continues to see strong growth opportunities in India across all business units. To better support customers in gearing their production to current market demands, the company offers a local supply and enhanced technical support through its various state-of-the-art facilities including the The Colour Competence and Design Center (CCDC) at Greater Noida, the Polyisocyanate Production Plant at Ankleshwar and the Polyurethane Systems House at Greater Noida.
