As the world keeps on innovating more every waking day and ‘Industry 4.0’ becoming the next big thing in the manufacturing sector, a lot of manufacturing companies in India are still unsure on how to make the transition from conventional manufacturing to Additive Manufacturing (AM), because no matter what the next big innovation in AI or Cloud brings without the hardware required to run it on it will only be a demo model or a project that cannot be used the public.
This is where Andrew Additive comes in. The company is a startup based in Bangalore and is specialised in making 3D printers of different technologies. It also supports and gives end-to-end AM solutions for its customers.
Andrew Additive launched its first indigenously made extrusion based 3D printer series - KALAM 300 and KALAM 500, which as the name suggests is also a tribute to the late great Mr A P J Abdul Kalam who was not only one of the great leaders of India but also an innovator and a visionary. “We hope if not as great as him we atleast will be able to make him proud by keeping the progression of innovation flow,” said the company.
The company’s extrusion based printers are the best in class and customers also have an option to choose between a normal version and a wifi version that supports wifi printing which is really useful to customers and industries where the workload is big and checking up on the printer manually is a tight task, instead they can just check the progress on their laptop or their smartphones. Andrew Additive’s printers also have an option to have a camera attached to it.
Apart from manufacturing machines, Andrew Additive also works with customers to provide end-to-end solution when it comes to AM, by guiding the customers from the ideation stage till the post-processing stage, which also includes support in design - DFAM (Design For Additive Manufacturing), Andrew Additive has a very creative design team in house who push the design limitations to its limit to get a totally optimised and functional part for its customers.
Andrew Additive also has a separate development and reverse engineering division that helps its customers who are trying to reverse engineer or develop a new product.
The company will soon be coming out with its indigenous powder bed printer for polymer and metal. Andrew Additive’s goal from the very beginning, even before the start of the company was to:
1. Make AM a lifestyle and use it to solve all the day to day problems
2. To take AM from being only prototyping technology to becoming a production technology used in major industries.
They aim to innovate, optimise the production processes, and drive widespread adoption of additive manufacturing across all industries in India.
