ACG's Pithampur facility joins Global Lighthouse Network by WEF

ACG, the pharmaceutical industry's largest integrated supplier and service provider, celebrated the inclusion of its capsule manufacturing facility in Pithampur, India, in the esteemed Global Lighthouse Network (GLN) by the World Economic Forum. The GLN, initiated by WEF in collaboration with McKinsey & Company, is a community of manufacturers demonstrating leadership in leveraging Fourth Industrial Revolution technologies to revolutionise factories, value chains, and business models, yielding significant financial and operational benefits. Notably, the GLN has grown exponentially, expanding from 16 to 153 lighthouses since its inception.

The certification follows a rigorous audit of over 25 use cases for the Pithampur facility, resulting not only in the production of superior quality products but also in the transformation of operations, setting new benchmarks for timely production. ACG's Pithampur factory stands out for its accelerated deployment of GenAI, which addresses the evolving skill sets of manufacturing employees through a remarkable Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) and policy interfacing with Gen AI.

Commenting on the achievement, Karan Singh, Managing Director of ACG Group, stated, "When ACG began its digital transformation journey, Industry 4.0, AI, and ML were emerging concepts. The focus was on deploying these technologies to enhance productivity and transform our operations, with the ultimate goal of improving accessibility to affordable medicines. With an ambitious and dedicated team, we committed to raising the bar of excellence in delivering high-quality capsules globally."

He added, "Six years into the journey, I am filled with pride as my team paves the way for advanced manufacturing leadership and secures a position in the World Economic Forum's prestigious Global Lighthouses community. This certification is a testament to our commitment to excellence and creating new benchmarks for facilities at the forefront of technological innovation. In the future, we envision scaling global operations to benefit our partners, customers, regulators, and the pharmaceutical ecosystem."

Known for its numerous accolades, ACG's Pithampur factory incorporated green features during the design and layout stages, earning LEED gold certification in 2014.

Balajikasiram Sundararajan, Chief Digital Officer of ACG Group, shared insights on ACG's enterprise-wide digital transformation program, "Build the Future." This program is based on four strategic pillars: transforming operations, building smart connected products, enhancing customer experience, and developing digital-led business models. Under this initiative, ACG has actively developed and implemented cutting-edge solutions powered by digital technologies such as Industrial IoT, machine learning, deep learning, generative AI, cloud computing, digital twins, industrial robotics, and extended reality.

Sundararajan said, "These solutions have enabled us to better serve our global customer base by addressing critical customer-centric business problems. This prestigious Global Lighthouse recognition from the World Economic Forum further inspires us to explore innovative ways of leveraging digital technologies to reimagine our entire value chain, from suppliers to customers."

Kiva Allgood, Head of the Centre for Advanced Manufacturing and Supply Chains at the World Economic Forum, commented, "The Global Lighthouse Network exemplifies the power of digital transformation. Lighthouses are pioneering a path to unprecedented global impact, strategically weaving innovation throughout their expansive network—sculpting both a sustainable future and an era of transformative and lasting change."
