ABB India Ltd has completed a critical energy infrastructure modernisation programme by upgrading the automation and monitoring systems for Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited’s (BPCL) Vadinar–Bina Pipeline (VBPL). The 935 km cross-country oil pipeline supports India’s energy security, supplying 7.80 million metric tonnes per annum (MMTPA) to the Bina refinery.

The scope of work included a full modernisation of the ABB Ability SCADAvantage system, replacement of 35 Remote Terminal Units (RTUs) across pumping, pigging and sectionalising valve stations, and installation of new SCADA servers at Vadinar and Bina. The project also strengthened cyber security and resilience through network protection, system hardening and centralised monitoring.

With failover capability and disaster recovery servers implemented at both Vadinar and Bina, we now have robust support to maintain uninterrupted operations even in challenging conditions.”
