Cypet Technologies Ltd, the Cyprus based single-speed PET machinery maker, plans to expand its capability in India to tap the country’s growing demand for plastic packaging. CYPET Technologies, which sells machinery and materials for plastics and packaging, has designed, developed, tested and commercialised eight machine models, for the production of PET bottles and jars, applying its own innovative technology.

Last year, the family-controlled company opened an assembly site in India at Ahmedabad. The plant employs one machine for moulding 17-liter edible oil jars and 20-liter water bottles. The company is now constructing a second machine to produce 100-liter drums for the chemical sector

 

Cypet chose Ahmedabad for its plant because Gujarat and neighbouring Maharashtra account for 65 percent of India's plastics industry.

It is also working on a new preform production method which involves a simplified post-mould-cooling system, allowing PET preform production with shorter cycle times on affordable equipment. The new method is under development and commercialisation is expected in the next three months, that would likely boost machine capability to produce drums of up to 150 liters for chemical applications.
