The government’s Make in India initiative is bearing fruits with global majors establishing their manufacturing base in India. With this, Kaushal Sharma, Managing Director, B M Water Meters, believes the demand for machine tools to go up.
 
What type of products & services do you offer?
 
B M Water Meters, a CRISIL Certified company, is engaged in manufacturing and exporting of mechanical & electromagnetic water flow meters under brand names of Kranti, Kushal & Belanto. It has a state of the art manufacturing facility and in-house designing & testing facility. We are about to add more production lines. Our goal is to achieve number one position in South Asia market in short span of coming times.
 
We are engaged in production of products such as  Kranti make mechanical bulk enclosed (spiral) type, flange end, class-“A” water meters from line size 40 mm to 1000 mm for cold & hot water applications; Kranti make mechanical Woltman (removable mechanism) type with magnetic drive, Class-“B” water meters for cold & hot water applications; Kranti make mechanical Woltman (removable mechanism) type with magnetic drive, Class-“B” PULSE OUT-PUT water meters; Kranti make “T”-type dirt-boxes (strainers) flange type from Line Size 40mm to 1000mm; Belanto make mechanical screwed (domestic) Type IS:779 & Class-“B” of ISO:4064 from line Size 15 mm to 50 mm; and Kushal make ultrasonic water flow meters. Our products used by water, refineries, petrochemicals, sugar, textile, paper, ETP plants, dairy, vegetable oils, other commercial and industrial applications, along with water supply & sewerage boards, irrigation departments of state governments.
 
What is your opinion about Indian machine tools industry?
 
Indian market is growing rapidly as it has become of the leading economies in the world. At the same time, automation is now a major part of manufacturing facilities in heavy & engineering companies. The demand and consumption of machine tools in the country is on a higher side and we expect it to increase by 12-18 per cent annually. 
 
How do you serve the industry in India?
 
We serve the metal industry as well as other sectors such as water, refineries, petrochemicals, sugar, textile, paper, ETP plants, dairy, diesel, vegetable oils, etc. Water supply & sewerage boards, irrigation departments, ground water departments of state governments are major end user consumers of our products.
 
Can India emerge as a global manufacturing hub? 
 
Since major global players are establishing their manufacturing facilities in India under Make In India programme, we are proud to say that India is becoming a manufacturing hub in the fields of pumps, valves, water meters and metal industries.
 
How is the demand of your products?
 
Smart meters market is projected to reach $ 19.98 billion by 2022, at a CAGR of 9.34 per cent from 2017 to 2022. Factors such as supportive government policies, need for accurate billing and improved customer services are driving the market globally with Asia-Pacific emerging as the fastest growing region.
 
What are the growth plans for your company?
 
For next three years, we are committed to achieve annual growth rate of 10-15 per cent. Our medium term goal (five to ten years) is to achieve annual growth rate of 20-25 per cent.
 
Would you like to give any message to the industry on the eve of IMTEX 2019?
 
Since we strongly believe in “Success is a journey, not a destination”, we always explore new aspects to expand market or product range. Our products are successfully placed in every corner of India, and now we are focusing on international market.
