Gemini Power Hydraulics Pvt Ltd, a provider of end-to-end solutions for various industries, hosted a specially curated event ‘The AWP Junction’ aimed at sharing its products and services with the rapidly growing aerial work platform (AWP) market in India. This event was held on February 23, 2018 in Chembur, a suburb in Mumbai. Gemini showcased new and unique AWP applications developed specifically for the Indian market. The products featured comply with the safety standards and adhere to both Indian and European norms for manufacturing. Along with this, Gemini showcased its enhancements in service capabilities, a strong suit of the company. Along with the exhibition, there were also informative seminars on E-way GST billing and the importance of safety during operation and maintenance conducted by representatives from L&T.

The event was met with a great response, where people from all walks of the industry, rental, private and government companies attended in large numbers.

Gemini Power, which has been working on options of progressively increasing indigenous content in AWP products, unveiled specially designed ‘van mounted’ and pick-up chassis mounted platforms targeted primarily at the street furniture maintenance. The idea behind this was to reduce time and increase efficiency, targeted at the street furniture market.

These units have specially designed booms, made of an aluminium alloy, making it super lightweight. Not only are they lightweight, but the boom does not require any special greasing or nylon padding for safe and smooth operations. The other unique feature is that these units can perform all operations without the need of stabilisers. They have been tested for safety, both statically and dynamically with 25% more carrying capacity.

“The highlight of the evening was that Gemini sold two of their pick-up chassis mounted unit at the exhibition itself. This showcased the trust that these companies had in Gemini to deliver world class products,” said Rajiv Sethi, Managing Director, Gemini Power Hydraulics Pvt Ltd.

The van mounted serves as a 3-in-1 utility vehicle, where you have a mobile storage unit within the van, perform repair and maintenance operations and also provide a working environment within the chassis itself.

Similarly, the pick-up mounted chassis is designed to work in tight and restricted areas, with minimal lane occupancy and tail swing. Especially in the big metro cities where space is a restriction and the vehicles must occupy as little space as possible, these units provide the perfect alternative to the current crop of bulky truck mounted chassis. Both the units are also designed to provide a lower total cost of ownership and a far greater return on investment. Since the vehicles are much smaller, they also require lesser maintenance, diesel consumption and have easier serviceability. Just as the van mounted, these units too are CE certified and is equipped with features such as: tilt sensor, load sensor, ground and basket control operations, emergency manual operations for safe lowering in case of failure.

“We are hopeful that this new breed of equipment will replace the current standards and set a new benchmark in the market. We are working closely with contractors to provide the best solution to the market. Currently we have more models in the pipeline, scheduled to be released in the second half of the year, and investing a lot into our research and development for such applications,” added Sethi.
