The CrimpIQ cloud-based industrial solution saves time and money for hydraulic and industrial hose customers
Continental to introduce CrimpIQ at Hannover Messe 2019

Technology company Continental will be unveiling its smart crimper for hydraulic and industrial hoses, the CrimpIQ controller, to a European audience for the first time at Hannover Messe (hall 25, booth A12). This enables the crimper to be remotely maintained and have updates loaded, saving customers a great deal of time and money. Efficiency, safety, quality and speed are increased, and the whole crimping process can be monitored via a securely protected website.

The crimper controller is the coupling solution for the digital age. Users find the correct specifications simply via the touchscreen interface. Customers can use it to store their presets straightforwardly, access technical support and back up their data to a secure cloud.
CrimpCloud, Continental’s cloud connectivity platform, is directly connected to CrimpIQ. It not only provides software updates, the latest crimp specifications and full device backup, but also enables historical data to be tracked remotely.

The CrimpIQ controller is a current example of how rubber expertise and software know-how go hand in hand at Continental. “With the arrival of our new crimper controller, the assembly process – traditionally a purely manual operation – has now been brought into the 21st century. The CrimpIQ controller will have the same impact on the hose industry as the smartphone has already had on our day-to-day lives,” declares Andreas Gerstenberger, who has global responsibility for the business unit for industrial fluid solutions at Continental.

CrimpIQ has a user-friendly, high-resolution 10-inch touchscreen interface – its simple operation helps the user navigate through specifications, notes and relevant crimping instructions. Complete integration with the MyCrimp app ensures updated crimp specifications, while the CrimpCloud integration permits software upgrades and data backup. Preferences, favourites and user settings are saved and securely stored in the cloud. Technical support is provided from within the application. Machine performance and maintenance plans can be easily monitored. The technology is being constantly refined and will grow with the customers, who can add new functions and solutions whenever they want.
