EMAG Group and HPL Technologies GmbH agree on an extensive cooperation in the field of hard coating of brake discs. The decision came after the European Commission published new draft standard ‘Euro 7’ on November 10, 2022. According to this, the limit values for particulate matter particle emissions from braking systems are set at a certain level. To meet the automotive industry's stringent requirements for coated brake discs, the said companies are jointly developing a hard coating system. This standard will be applying to passenger cars and vans from July 1, 2025, and to commercial vehicles and buses from July 1, 2027.

Hard-coated brake discs are the preferred solution for compliance with the ’EURO 7’ fine particulate matter limits. HPL Technologies' WECODUR assemblies for laser cladding into the EMAG machine platform to enable automotive manufacturers and break disc producers to use far-reaching benefits of rapid and sustainable scaling of production technology.
