A delegation of Steel Users Federation of India (SUFI) recently met Chaudhary Birendra Singh, the Minister of Steel, Government of India, to acquaint him of various challenges faced by the steel fraternity. The delegation was led by SUFI President Nikunj Turakhia, Mitesh Prajapati (General Secretary), Vinod Bane (Secretary), Samir Sanghvi (empanelled members of GST Committee CA) and Abhijeet Sinha (E.O.D. B National Programme Director).

 

Steel Minister stated, "It is a time to make consolidated effort to put steel industry on the growth path. There is a need for innovation and technological advancement in steel making. Steel Research & Technology Mission of India (SRTMI) has been formed in collaboration with steel mills so that research can take place under single umbrella. These efforts are to make Indian steel industry globally competitive." 

Chaudhary Birendra Singh has accepted the invitation to be the Chief Guest for second SUFI Steel Awards to be held in December 2018.

Nikunj Turakhia said, “We have also proposed a round table conference between steel stakeholders such as steel mills, steel users, steel traders and service providers in order to have a constructive dialogue to achieve objectives of Steel Policy 2017. The Steel Minister has positively acknowledged our suggestions and agreed to consider the proposal.”
