Hi-Tech Pipes Starts Commercial Output at Kathua Plant

Hi-Tech Pipes Limited has commenced commercial production at its greenfield manufacturing facility in Kathua, Jammu, marking a significant expansion of its footprint in northern India. The new unit has an installed capacity of 80,000 tonnes per annum (MTPA) and is designed to manufacture ERW steel pipes, hollow sections, coated products and other value-added steel offerings, further strengthening the company’s production capabilities.

The Kathua facility has been developed with modern manufacturing infrastructure and advanced automation, enabling the company to meet evolving customer specifications and industry standards. With the commissioning of this plant, Hi-Tech Pipes is now closer to achieving a total installed manufacturing capacity of 1 million tonnes, reinforcing its position among the fastest-growing steel tube and pipe manufacturers in the country.

Strategically located in Jammu, the facility provides logistical and operational advantages, allowing efficient and cost-effective supply across Jammu and Kashmir, Punjab and Himachal Pradesh. The unit is well placed to address rising demand from sectors such as infrastructure development, construction, water distribution, fabrication, industrial projects and engineering applications.

The commissioning aligns with the company’s broader strategy of focusing on higher value-added products and expanding its presence in coated and specialised steel segments. This is expected to support an improved product mix, better realisations and stronger EBITDA per tonne over the medium to long term. The newly commissioned capacity is expected to begin contributing meaningfully from mid-Q4 FY26 onwards, supporting both volume growth and profitability.

The Jammu expansion underscores the company’s long-term vision of building a future-ready, scalable and efficient manufacturing platform, while maintaining high standards of quality, operational excellence and sustainability.
