IMTEX 2022: An enabler of machine tools industry growth

Indian Machine Tool Manufacturers’ Association (IMTMA) is organising a combined IMTEX in its 75th year. IMTEX 2022, IMTEX Forming 2022, Tooltech & Digital Manufacturing will be held at the Bangalore International Exhibition Centre (BIEC) from January 20-26, 2022.

Both IMTEX 2022 and IMTEX FORMING 2022 exhibitions will provide ample opportunities for visitors to witness the latest technological advancements in the field of machine tool and manufacturing which will propel business activities. Concurrent show, Tooltech will showcase cutting tools, sub-systems and accessories, CAD/ CAM, etc. Digital Manufacturing, also held concurrently, will feature additive manufacturing and evolutionary Industry 4.0 concepts. The live display of technologies will enable visitors from various industry sectors to take informed decisions.

“IMTEX today occupies a premier position in the exhibition landscape as South Asia’s largest show on manufacturing technology. Every change and shift in metal cutting and metal forming will be showcased at this edition. Manufacturing sector has been doing well on the back of several reforms initiated in the recent past which has been reflected in the machine tool industry’s growth figures with a record 25% increase in consumption as against previous year,” said Ravi Raghavan, President, IMTMA.

IMTMA - the apex body and single point of contact for machine tool industry in India - plays a crucial role in the growth and development of the machine tool industry in the country. IMTMA’s initiatives include policy advocacy, export promotion, trade fairs, mega events, training, seminars, technology missions, publications, etc. IMTMA formed in 1946 is 75 years old, has a membership of over 460 companies and represents 90% of the organised machine tool and allied equipment manufacturers in India.

Speaking about the current situation, V Anbu, Director General & CEO, IMTMA and BIEC, said, “Exhibitor response to IMTEX has been very encouraging. Over 600 exhibitors from as many as 18 countries will showcase innovations in metal cutting and metal forming in an exhibition space of around 70,000 square metres in 5 exhibition halls. A sizeable number of Indian and foreign companies will be participating. Germany, Spain, Taiwan and the United States of America will be setting up country pavilions.”

IMTMA in organising IMTEX 2022 is adhering to all Covid appropriate safety guidelines laid down by the government. Entry is allowed for only fully vaccinated visitors, i.e. those who have taken 2 doses. Other safety measures such as deployment of trained personnel to monitor visitor movement, digital payment at food courts, pre-registration and “no spot registrations” as in the past, will go a long way in making IMTEX 2022 a “Safe Exhibition”.

About the show
The various financial incentives provided by the government to the industry has lifted the sentiments and has bolstered the economic growth. The government's endeavour to inoculate around 70% of the country's population by end of this year will boost the confidence of industry stakeholders.

IMTEX is a great enabler of manufacturing growth in India. The exhibition provides solutions for various key industry sectors including automobiles, auto components, defence, railways, power, infrastructure, general engineering, medical equipment, and so on.

South & South East Asia's largest international machine tool and manufacturing show, IMTEX 2022 & IMTEX Forming 2022 will be having the presence of leading national and international industries from the machine tools and manufacturing sectors. The exhibition will be an exclusive business-to-business event which will attract Indian and international exhibitors from around the world offering the most advanced manufacturing solutions.

The exhibition will also be hosting CONNECT (an awareness programme for imparting knowledge on the machine tool industry for young engineers) and the i2 Pavilion (provides an opportunity for Indian academic/R&D institutions to show case their R&D capabilities in metal working field).

IMTMA Platinum Jubilee
Indian Machine Tool Manufacturers' Association (IMTMA) is one of India's earliest industry associations, which is now 75 years old. Constituted with 19 members, IMTMA began its parallel journey with the newly formed young democratic India which was aspiring to emerge as an industrial nation through the establishment of various PSUs and research institutions.

The next big step was to bring the Indian manufacturers together to share competencies and utilize opportunities profitability. This gave birth to the first-ever IMTEX at Bombay in 1969 which back then was known as the All India Machine Tool Exhibition.

IMTEX continued to grow by several notches in Mumbai and Delhi, where it used to be organized. IMTMA then set up Bangalore International Exhibition Centre in Bengaluru. BIEC has played a great supporting role in the development of the machine tool industry and other industries by being the venue for IMTEX.

Over the last two decades, IMTMA has worked very closely with the Ministry of Heavy Industries who has supported the industry through several of their initiatives. IMTMA, through its Technology Centres, at Bengaluru, Pune and Gurugram, imparts training for fresh engineering graduates as well as industry professionals. All these initiatives are helping in advancing the machine tool industry to its next level.

Today, with over 460 member companies, IMTMA represents 90% of the organised manufacturers of machine tools and related items/components as well as subsystems and has brought the Indian machine tool industry to an important position in the world.

Must visit show
The previous edition of IMTEX (in 2020) saw more than 47,000 visitors, more than 600 exhibitors and participation from 26 countries such as Austria, Belgium, China, Columbia, Czech Republic, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, India, Italy, Japan, Korea and others. This year, the exhibition will be a more comprehensive and extrapolated show covering an exciting assemblage of new-age technologies in both metal cutting and metal forming under one roof by remodelling itself to a new paradigm as the international machine tool and manufacturing technology exhibition. The strength of IMTEX lies with its global recognition, brand, ability to attract large number of business visitors, generating business worth millions of dollars and a great place to connect, learn and share knowledge for the business community. In 2022, IMTEX is set to attract major customers and industry leaders from India.
