How ELECRAMA has blossomed over the years

ELECRAMA since its inception in 1990 has been growing at a steady pace of 40% to become the exhibition of choice for the global electrical equipment industry. Consistently delivering value, fulfilling expectations and partnering with numbers stories of growth and expansion, ELECRAMA today stands at the threshold of being the true comprehensive global electricity forum.

The maiden show in the ELECRAMA series was held in Mumbai in 1990 in a modest way, the exhibitors spread one an area of 9504 sq.mtr. The event started as triennial show, and due to the riots in Mumbai, the organisers mulled cancellation of the 1993 edition, but thanks to the insistence and enthusiasm of the participants, the event was shifted to New Delhi, spread over 8863 sq.mtr, the impacts of the disturbances clearly affecting the proceedings. The 1996 show returned to Mumbai and increased the exhibition space to 11,191 sq.mtr. The event was clearly gaining traction and the exhibitor area increased to 13,706 sq.mtr in 1999.

By then the show had gathered a momentum of its own and demand rose for making it a biennial event. The 2002 edition saw exhibitors spread over 14,460 sq.mtr and during this show a referendum was held which voted in favour of the show turning into a biennial event. The 2004 edition was impacted a bit by the changed time frame and the space occupied decreased marginally to 14,169 sq.mtr, but increased by a third to 21, 825 in 2006, vindicating the decision.

The 2008 edition carried the momentum further with space occupied increasing to 25,644 sq.mtr and by 2010, it was clear Mumbai did not have space any more, having peaked at 28,174, when the organisers had to request participants to scale down the demand for floor space!

The 2012 event thus shifted to BIEC, Bangalore, the most modern exhibition complex in India presently, and immediately grew more than double in terms of space occupied to 60,000 sq.mtr . This further leapt to 77,000 sq.mtr in 2014, indicating a growing enthusiasm for ELECRAMA.

By now, the show attracts close to 1000 exhibitors from over 30 countries, and visitors from over 100 countries. The last three editions have also witnessed a surge in footfalls, averaging over 100,000, making this one of the most popular events not just in India but globally.
