Selection process and Jury meet…

The selection of IPF Industrial Excellence Awards 2017 winners was done by the jury during a meeting on November 17, 2017. The Jury Panel comprised of Ajay Thakur (SME Head, Bombay Stock Exchange); Ashok Bharadwaj (Director - Marketing and Sales, JSW Steel); B Seshnath (MD, Wavoil Fluid Power India); Dr K C Mittal (President and Head, India Vacuum Society/BARC); Girish VS (Executive Director, Institute of Supply Chain Management); KP Shetty (VP and Head of Sales for Wirtgen India); Saikat Roy (Head, SME Care Ratings); Suresh Lulla (MD, Qimpro Consultants Pvt Ltd); Sumit Banerjee (Chairman, ASAPP Info Global Group); and Pratap Padode (MD, ASAPP Info Global Group).

For Fastest Growing Manufacturing Companies Awards, nominations were a mix of self-nomination and companies selected based on data sourced from BSE & NSE. On the other hand, for Product Excellence Awards, nominations were received directly from the companies.

In the first phase, nominations were screened and only those products and companies were taken to the next stage which met the minimum benchmark set for qualification.

Methodology for Ranking of companies: For this, last four year’s financial results with operating revenues and profits after tax (PAT) were considered. Latest year’s performance was given higher weightage. Composite scores were created by multiplying the weightage with the ranks both for operating revenue and for PAT. The sum of the composite scores was then aggregated in a descending order with the least scores reflecting the highest rankers. Post this ranking procedure, Top 3 in medium segment and Top 5 in SME segment (in each of the categories) were shortlisted and presented before the Jury Panel. After in-depth analysis and thorough deliberations, the Jury selected the winners.

Methodology for Product Excellence Awards: In each category, the qualified products were evaluated on three parameters, ie Novelty Quotient (which took into consideration innovation, patentability and new development); Green Index (which looked at factors such as energy efficiency, product made from recycled material, ease of recycling, lowering raw material usage, non-polluting, etc); and, finally, the product’s USP/benefits.

Methodology for Personality of the Year Award: MDs/CEOs of the companies who have done relentless and inspiring work in the industry over a period of time were nominated for this prestigious title. The nomination that received maximum votes (through a secret ballot) from the Jury was selected as IPF Personality of the Year Award.
