Texmaco Rail & Engineering Limited has secured a Rs 463 million contract from Southern Railway for the design, supply, erection, testing, and commissioning of 25 kV traction Overhead Equipment (OHE). The project is part of the track doubling initiative between Thiruvananthapuram and Eraniel, spanning approximately 100 km. It also includes infringement removal and major electrical modifications at the Thiruvananthapuram Railway station yard.

Awarded through a competitive bidding process, the contract covers electrification works and upgrades to existing OHE infrastructure within the Thiruvananthapuram Division. The project is scheduled for completion within 36 months and supports efforts to expand capacity, improve operational efficiency, and enhance network reliability.

The Thiruvananthapuram–Eraniel doubling project is a strategic initiative aimed at easing congestion and strengthening connectivity along one of southern India’s busiest rail corridors. Electrification will enable smoother train operations and support broader sustainability goals.
