Rising digitalisation energising growth for Harting in India

In an era where connectivity is paramount and the demand for sustainable energy solutions is at its peak, the Germany-based Harting Technology Group, a global leader in connectivity solutions, is spearheading a transformative journey towards a sustainable, digitalised, and electrified future, with a significant focus on India.

“With the motto of ‘Connecting the old electric society to a sustainable digitised electrified future’, Harting emphasises the critical importance of seamless transmission of both power and data. As the world increasingly relies on digitalisation for its operations, ensuring uninterrupted access to power and data becomes indispensable for progress,” commented Detlef Sieverdingbeck, GM - Corporate Communication & Branding, Harting Stiftung & Co KG, during his interaction with SME at Hannover Messe 2024 (HM2024).

This year, Harting is placing a special emphasis on energy, particularly hydrogen, which is touted as a powerful fuel source for the future that holds immense potential in revolutionising the energy landscape. At HM2024, Harting showcased its expertise in this domain with powerful fuel cell modules connected in a stack-by-stack configuration, delivering robust and reliable energy solutions.

In India, a burgeoning market with a rapidly growing economy, Harting has a manufacturing plant in Chennai, which it intends to expand further. With the company deeply involved in various sectors crucial for India's development, from energy production to transportation, the German technology firm is actively contributing to India's digitalisation drive.

“India for us is a fast growing market. We have been expanding production capabilities at our plant in Chennai over the years. We are presently focusing on energy production and transportation (from north to South). Digitalisation of India is also driving the demand for our products. We do have an innovation hub in Bangalore, so we are near the digital specialists in India. So, for us it’s a very booming and important market,” stated Sieverdingbeck.

Furthermore, Harting plays a pivotal role in facilitating connectivity for data firms such as Microsoft and Amazon, highlighting its significance in India's digital transformation journey. Thousands of connectors from Harting are integral to the seamless transmission of data, powering the nation's digital infrastructure.

Recognising the growing demand for hydrogen energy in India, Harting is poised to capitalise on this emerging market. Leveraging its expertise in high-voltage solutions and power transmission, the company sees immense potential for growth in this sector. Additionally, Harting believes in the future of green energy and is committed to driving innovation in this space. It also aims to further its contribution to India's green mobility revolution.

Jacob Chandy, MD, Harting India Pvt Ltd, sheds light on the company's strategic focus on the railway business in India. “The whole market is moving with the Government's Make in India policy. We have more and more manufacturing companies coming into India and then exporting outside. In addition to the railway business, we are focusing more on electric vehicles, and wind energy which are booming now. We are also gearing up to produce more in India.”

Harting's vision for a sustainable, digitalised, and electrified future in India encompasses a holistic approach towards addressing the nation's evolving energy needs. “With a strong emphasis on innovation, connectivity, and sustainability, Harting is poised to play a crucial role in shaping India's energy landscape for years to come,” added Chandy.
