Balmer Lawrie, based in Kolkata, has announced a capital expenditure plan of Rs 7 billion, as approved by its board. The company aims to diversify its operations by entering the ethanol production sector and expanding into third-party logistics for businesses looking to store their products.
Palchaudhuri, CMD, stated that Balmer Lawrie will invest Rs 3.3 billion in ethanol production, utilising rice and maize as feedstock. Additionally, the company will allocate Rs 2.2 billion to establish a Free Trade and Warehousing Zone (FTWZ), which functions similarly to a Special Economic Zone (SEZ).
