Valeo, a global leader in automotive technology, has announced the nomination of its Valeo Smart Safety 360 (VSS360) system by one of India’s leading OEMs. The system will provide advanced driving assistance functions for commercial vehicles. Designed specifically for the Indian market, this new version of VSS360 will be manufactured at Valeo’s state-of-the-art facility in Sanand, Gujarat.

The VSS360 system is designed to address mobility challenges in India, including unpredictable traffic conditions. The one-stop shop ADAS system provides a robust set of safety and comfort functions, including Moving Off Information System, which protects pedestrians and cyclists during pull-away, and Blind Spot Information System, which monitors critical side zones for vulnerable road users. It also includes key ADAS functions such as Forward Collision Warning, Automatic Emergency Braking and Lane Departure Warning.

The system enables seamless software updates through over-the-air updates throughout the vehicle’s lifecycle to maintain peak performance. It also includes Driver Drowsiness and Attention Warning software, which actively monitors the driver’s attention level to mitigate the risk of accidents caused by fatigue.

Valeo Smart Safety 360 is a cost-optimised ADAS solution that offers best-in-class driving performance in a scalable one-box ADAS solution, where radar fusion is integrated into the smart front camera. It enables OEMs to optimise costs and efficiency by removing individual Electronic Control Units while remaining easy to integrate into existing vehicle architectures.

Developed for the major Indian OEM, the system has been tailored for the Indian market. It will meet the upcoming General Safety Regulation, including requirements aimed at reducing road accidents caused by driver fatigue. The system will ensure optimal performance and reliability through three radars and one camera developed, manufactured and integrated by Valeo, using state-of-the-art computer vision technology.

A key advantage of the system is the Univolt Camera, which operates across both 12V and 24V architectures. This allows the technology to be deployed across the full range of commercial vehicles, from Light Commercial Vehicles to Heavy Duty trucks.
