Mitsubishi Electric India has unveiled its latest manufacturing facility for advanced Factory Automation Systems in the Talegaon Industrial area of Maharashtra, India.

Covering a total area of 40,000 sq m, with an initial construction of 15,400 sq m, the facility represents a Greenfield Investment of Rs 2,200 million. This strategic investment underscores Mitsubishi Electric's dedication to fortifying its presence in India and meeting the increasing global demand for sophisticated automation and intelligent manufacturing solutions, as stated in the company's official press release.

The release further emphasised the multifaceted role of the new manufacturing plant, serving not only as a catalyst for business expansion but also as a platform for expanding local manufacturing of Mitsubishi Electric's global product range. This move is aimed at addressing dynamic customer demands and bolstering Mitsubishi Electric's market influence in India.

Mitsubishi Electric India's Factory Automation & Industrial Division has been active in India for over a decade, contributing significantly to various industrial and commercial sectors such as automotive, food & beverages, pharmaceuticals, textiles, and recently, expanding into emerging sectors like data centres and e-commerce.

Given the escalating demand for smart automation solutions in India's rapidly growing manufacturing sector, Mitsubishi Electric India's automation business has witnessed more than a threefold expansion in recent years. This growth is aligned with the evolving needs of the Indian market.

To meet this surging demand, the new smart factory is fortified by a robust local Research & Development base focused on creating indigenous products tailored to the specific requirements of customers across diverse industries. The company envisions substantial growth in India in the coming years, emphasising its commitment to promptly addressing customer needs, providing product customisation, and ensuring cost-efficiency.

Moreover, Mitsubishi Electric has established a cutting-edge solution experience zone within the facility. This zone showcases the latest innovations, featuring demonstrations of "e-F@ctory," a comprehensive solution leveraging digital technology such as big data, IIoT, Edge Computing, Advanced Robotics, and a technological ecosystem facilitating digital transformation in manufacturing environments. The demonstration also includes Building Management Solutions, Collaborative Robot demonstrations, Robust Motion, Drive and Control solutions, process automation solutions, and an Autonomous Mobile Robot (AMR) solution equipped with Mitsubishi Electric India Factory Automation products.

Hisahiro Nishimoto, Group Vice President, Industry and Mobility Area (IMBA), Mitsubishi Electric Corporation, Japan, expressed the company's commitment to enriching lives globally through co-innovation with industry and infrastructure customers. He highlighted their on-going dedication to addressing social challenges, such as decarbonisation and labour shortages, by providing energy-saving equipment and automation technology solutions, aiming to establish Mitsubishi Electric as a Circular Digital Engineering company.
