India must emerge as an innovation-driven economy: Baba Kalyani

As we celebrate the 78th Independence Day of our beloved nation, as proud Indians, it’s our duty to contribute to our nation’s development and help establish India as a global leader.

I have been in the manufacturing business for more than five decades with operations spread across the world. Never in the past have I experienced the kind of confidence and positive impressions that India as a country is casting at the world stage today. Economic Growth, International Diplomacy and Relations, Business Opportunities, Science, Technology and Innovation, Healthcare and even Films, Sports and Culture - I think in every walk of life - India as a country is today at the forefront and has emerged as a major force to reckon with.

This year, we reflect on "Viksit Bharat 2047", a plan to transform India into a developed nation. Over the next 25 years, India is expected to accelerate its economic growth from $ 4 trillion to about $ 30 trillion which is 8 fold jump over a quarter of a century.

Representing the manufacturing sector, I have one key message to the young country men – several opportunities will come our way in the next few years. But, we cannot afford to be merely a ‘factory of the world’ – we must emerge as an “Innovation driven Economy” that manufactures and exports best-in-class products and solutions worldwide. Let us take a pledge to transform India into a "Products Nation".

At Bharat Forge and Kalyani Group of companies, we re-affirm our commitment to contribute to an AatmaNirbhar Bharat, a Sashakt Bharat and a Viksit Bharat!”

Jai Hind!
