Government Clears 17 Electronics Projects Worth Rs 71.72 Bn

The government has approved 17 proposals totalling Rs 71.72 billion under the Electronics Component Manufacturing Scheme to strengthen India’s electronics value chain. The projects span nine states, including Goa, Gujarat, Jammu and Kashmir, Karnataka, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu, Uttar Pradesh and Andhra Pradesh, supporting a more regionally balanced manufacturing footprint.

The approved proposals cover India’s first optical-transceiver manufacturing units, precision oscillators, high-end enclosures for laptops and smartwatches, camera modules, electronic connectors and multi-layer printed circuit boards. The combined output from these projects is expected to reach Rs 651.11 billion, with an estimated 11,808 direct jobs to be created.

The initiative is positioned as the next phase in advancing local design, improving component quality and deepening domestic supplier ecosystems to boost India’s overall electronics manufacturing competitiveness.
